Right of Someone Not on Lease

Texas..Here the dilemma. I moved in with someone about 1 month ago. My name not on lease. We were transferring to 2 bedroom in 2 weeks. The rent for the 2 was paid by ck by me. Due to other issues with all of this, the check bounced allong with the appl fee which still hasnt been ran. THe mgr of apt is trying to hold me 100% resp for the amt of ck. The other person moved out two weeks ago. I am in the other apt but he hasnt been back since he signed the new lease. Now he is pissed and wants me to pay the full amt and leave. He doesnt want to pay anything even his portion. I said no that eviction would just have take place and i would help him out with that. I was going to take over the lease but now even the mngr is insinuating that I wont be approved. The maintenance guy just came and changed the lock and didnt leave me key. I even have a letter from the mgr with my name on it so its not like they dont know. NO ones stuff is in this apartment but mine. what rights do I have? I need hellp fast. I was planing on moving this weekndd.

Its illegal to write a bad check you can be held responsible for the amount of the check and in some case 3X the amount of the check.

The issue isnt the checks. I didnt bounce them on purpose. I had given him a blank check thinking it was being made for one amount and it was made for another but again thats not the issue. The roommate that is on the lease left two weeks ago over some other issues and now expects me to pay that whole amount and vacate all at the same time with giving me no time to move. Threatenig to throw my stuff out the minute I walk out the door. And itlooks like the apartments are going to let him.

A bad check is always an issue purpose not on purpose makes no difference a bad check is a bad check.

Than landlord does not care less about your roommate issues and it is not really his problem.

The landlord wants 2 things

1: The unit pays its rent in full each month without excuses
2: The lease is not broken

texas..True and I understand that but they are both looking at me to pay the whole amount and I am not even on the lease. Plus my ex roommate didnt pay anything but feels I should pay it and then when I do they meaning him and the mgr and going to throw me out. Like I said they have changed the locks already. I would have no problem in paying the whole amount if I had some type of guarantee they were going to add me to the lease but I dont have that. WHy would I throw all of that money away like that. It would be stupid. At best I should be responsible for half. My only question is can the mgr of the apartments come into the apartment and throw my things out even though I have evidence that says they knew I was here? That is what I want assistance with not the checks. Thats a separate isssue thats not what I want assistance with right now.
