What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina
My brothers grandmother passed, she listed him and another person as a benificary on her retirement insurance policy. He was supposed to receive his portion when he turned 18. He turned 18 October 9 and they are not releasing the my brothers part of the money until the other party''s mother establishes guardianship. Is this legal? :confused:What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Is your brother related to the other beneficiary? How much money will your brother be receiving?

They have the right to make their own rules and regulations about when to distribute the monies and it may be perfectly legal.
