What is the name of your state?NY
I live in a NYCHA apartment and have resided here for the past 5 1/2 years. The situation is I grew up in this apartment (was on the lease as an original tenant) left when I married and moved back in when I seperated from my ex-wife. When I moved back into the apartment, my sister's name was the only one on the lease and I provided information to housing stating that I was contributing to the household so that rent could be established since my sister at the time was only a full time student. About 3 years ago my sister decided she wanted to leave the state. She has been coming and going, but not very stable here at all and as a result, we decided to have my name be put, officially, on the lease. We have made three attempts and every attempt was shut down. The manager knows that I live here and actually had me put on the lease temporarily, but still not permanently. My sister may not be able to come over this year in time to do the lease renewal and so I was researching and found out that certain rules apply with succession rights especially being that I am a traditional member of the family, was on the original lease and have lived here with the knowledge of the landlord for over 2years. What are my chances of filing a petition and succeeding? Also, how do I go about doing this?

How did your name get off the original lease?

Q:How did your name get off the original lease?
A:When I married I moved out of the apartment and into another w/in housing that belonged to my ex-wife. I don't believe one name could be on more than one lease w/in the same system :( That's how that happened.

Q:could it be magic marker or white out?
A: In this housing project- I wouldn't be surpised; needed a laugh :D

Let me rephrase that:

Q: Who took your name off the lease?

Q: Why did your name get taken off the lease?

Q: Were you ever notified of your name being taken off the lease?

Q: Who took your name off the lease?
A: My mother did during the yearly lease renewal after I had moved out- even though I was underemployed and underage at the time and could have stayed on- let's just say she wasn't too happy about the union.

Q: Why did your name get taken off the lease?
A: I feel as though I've answered that- I no longer lived in the apartment so I was removed off of that one and on to the other one with my ex-wife. I think no matter how underemployed someone is their income is calculated as a contribution toward rent right? It would have been too stressful for my mother to have to get my information every year especially since she was pissed at me.

Q: Were you ever notified of your name being taken off the lease?
A: Not to my knowledge no. But since the rent receipts I receive now are only in my sister's name I'm assuming that it was done and notification sent to my mother and my old address, where I was not the only person getting the mail, and knowing my ex-wife...anything could have happened.
