A little info on me that might help; I am 19, in my first year in college, and my parents divorced when I was 4.
When I was young, my grandfather's brother set up a trust fund for me. It was intended to go towards my education all the way through college. However, my parents(who I believe are the beneficiaries) were able to pay for my education themselves and saved the trust fund for me. Over the years, my relationship with my parents has become very difficult, and it would be to my benefit if I were to finantially disconnect myself from them. A couple questions: 1. While I have been told I will not receive the trust fund until I am 27 by my parents, is it possible to receive it sooner/ have it transfered into my care or other beneficiary? 2. Do my parents have the right to revoke my trust fund from me? 3. Would I be able to acess it at least for accademic purposes? Any info and advice is crucial and I thank you for any help you can provide.
