In Missouri, is there a way to find out who has the rights to an easement? We have utility lines that run behind our lot and were told the land behind it was public easement to access the lines, therefore did not sod or fence it in. A homeowner kitty-corner from us is now mowing the land and has begun planting trees in it. We would like to know who has rights to it as we would like to lay sod and extend our fence around it since it is directly behind our lot. Who can we contact to find out who has the rights to this land?

Call the utlity company and ask them or do a title search and ask the title company to give you a copy of the recorded easement.
