So I rented this room, sharing a 2-BR appartment with this woman and her 9-year-old daugther. She seemed "decent" when we met, and it seemed things were going to work out great. Her husband/boyfriend had just moved out after a fight, and she needed to rent a room to make ends meet.

So my only concerns were (1) I wanted the room furnished, and (2) I needed internet access. She told me that yes, the room was furnished, and that she only had one line, but she agreed to share DSL. Fine, I rented the room.

First two months, no problems, except that she never called the DSL. I kept asking her when she'd call the DSL, and she kept saying "Oh, I forgot, I'll call them tomorrow.." (I myself could not call them because it was HER line and I had no authority to make any changes.)

Well, she never called, and then told me that she could not afford it. I told her that I needed it, and that I'd pay for it if necessary, but she again, said no. So I pulled her line and used the internet with dialup. She said it was ok, and it worked like that for two months without a problem.

However, after only three months, she now just decided that she can't afford the apartment anymore. Now I have to move out. Not only that, but just yesterday (Dec 15) she notified me (NOT asked, NOTIFIED) that she was taking my bed out because her "friends" could only help her move on the 15th. I was like.. WTF??? I told her: Sorry, but I rented this room furnished, so I keep it furnished until the end of the month. She said "Well, it's MY bed." And I said: "Well, then I leave tomorrow and you give me half the rent."

So she was pissed and didn't take the bed. But now she's leaving the phone off the hook every night so that I can't access the internet. She knows I'm having final exams right now and need to use the internet for my study guides. Yet, she doesn't give a **** and keeps disconnecting me.

What the hell do I do now? This is a living nightmare. This looks like a fraud to me. I especially requested INTERNET access when I rented the room. Now, when I need it the most, I don't have it.

What can I do in this situation?? Can anyone give me some advice please? Should I call the police? I can't take this **** anymore. I still have 15 more days to go in this place, and it's a living hell.

HELP!!!

Which personality should be doing the studying? It's Sybil. It's been 31 years since I read the book, but if memory serves, there are 16 to choose from.

Yeah, like if libraries were opened at 2am, the time I usually do my homework!!
No, but actually there WAS indeed something I could do.. God, am I smart?? I just got this software that allows me to plug my cell phone to my PC and access the internet through dialup! This is amazing!! I wouldn't be online if I hadn't found this beauty.. So, basically she cut the line to screw me, but she ended up only screwed herself: she's on the phone 24/7, and since she already finished all her cell phone minutes, in addition to CUTTING the LINE, she's SCREWED. While I still *have* plenty of cell minutes, and ALSO can go online! hahaha.. I left the packaging for the software in the kitchen, so she can see she's screwed, while I'm not.

But anyway, now there's another issue: The landlord told my roomate that she needed to do "house repairs" so that she needed us to leave on December 30. We paid for the whole month, and now we have to leave one day before?? My new room will be available until January 1st. I have NO place to stay on January 31st, nor a place to put my stuff. I'll have to spend $$ in a motel plus in the double trip back and forth with all my stuff. WTF do I do? My stupid roomate said "yes, we can move" without even asking ME!. Can I take any kind of legal action to have her pay me for the extra day I have no place to stay? I paid her the whole month of December, and I'm being asked to vacate on the 30st.

Any advice?? Please anyone, I need help!! Thanks.
