my roommate of 8 months skipped out on both rent and his share of utilities (50%) and now refuses to respond to requests by both the landlord and me.
we had an oral agreement to split utilities 50-50. all these bills are in my name. he paid me cash each month. the only written records i have of his payments are photocopies of previous bills on which i had written how much he owed and asked him to please pay, plus notes in my own records of when and how much i received from him.
are oral agreements of this nature binding? if i filed in small claims court, would notes and photocopies be enough?
i know where he works, but do not know his new home address. for small claims purposes, can i ask his employer for his new address?
