I live in Ohio and live with roommates. Recently, I moved into a house and only one person's name is on the lease. This person is the only one with a copy of the lease and with their name signed to the lease. Do I or anyone else have any legal rights if we choose to move out before the lease is up? For example, are we legally responsible for paying anything after moving out or are we legally allowed to claim money from the other roomates to gain back security deposit and/or unpaid bills.

If the deposit reciept was made out to roomate who is on the lease and you paid a equal share you may have to go after the roomate with the lease in court for it . now about the lease If you didnt sign it you cannot be held to it so if you want to move out at the end of may for example all you have to do is give the roomate with the lease notice before May first that you will be vacating end of May . use a means of delivery where you get a confirmation of delivery wether its US postal or fed ex
