What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NY

If I have a mutual fund in my brokerage acct can I put part of that fund ($3500.00) into a Roth IRA without having to sell the fund & then repurchasing it as a Roth? In other words I want to transfer part of a fund to a Roth IRA.
Is this possible?

Thank you in advance,
Lou

No. Unless you are doing a rollover from one IRA custodian to another custodian or a conversion of a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA, IRA contributions heed to be in cash.
