What is the name of your state? CA
Why are there so many rude people on this forum?
I was skimming thru trying to get answers to my own problem without having to actually post a question.
I did find out what I needed, unfortunately, I had to tread thru some garbage to do so!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking this forum by no means, I just feel there are way too many unnecessary comments being made to what appear to be legitimate questions.
Just curious.

FIrst I will commend you for using the search function which is something MANY fail to do.

Secondly, there are many answers to your question. One is that many who come here for legal advice will argue and argue or ask the question repeatedly until they get an answer that they want, which to those like me, who have been here for quite some time it becomes very irritating.

There are also those subjects in which are very irritating... such as those who either have not had their child yet and want to either terminate the rights of the father or the father wants to terminate prior to the birth (sorry, many of us here are about the kids and the law).

The thing that happens most often is that someone asks a question, such as terminating the rights of a parent, and when told it's not possible they come back with stuff such as 'but they are a drunk" or "they abused me" or whatever. They always tweek it to make it the most horrible thing they can think of and when most of the time that doesn't change the answer given (for instance that bio must be contacted) they get ticked.

While I agree that there is some bashing here that isn't warranted, and I"m sure I have contributed, it's all out of frustration mainly.

Thank you for response. I did notice quite a few back & forth arguments among posters. It's almost comical to a certain extent but very informative as well.

There are some who love to debate and have no knowledge of the law or it's application and will refuse to cite their legal references making it difficult for those who truly try to provide appropriate advice. There are new posters who come here to vent or for support, neither of which are the goal of these forums. Sometimes the advice is hard to bear, they come knowing the answer but hope that someone will save the day or aid and abet them when all we can do it provide some insight into the applicible law.

To use an example... My ex didn't see my kids for 3 years before my current husband adopted them. In July of 2001 he told them he was dying and there were many emotional issues to deal with that. That was the last time he saw them. The last time he spoke to them was April of 2002 and he'd stated it again to them. There were other issues but that was the main one.

Now, let's say that he hasn't seen them since that time today and the adoption had not gone through and he was still their legal parent with court ordered visitation and showed up at my door. What does the law say? The law says that it's my fault for not having a modification, and he's legally entitled to see them. That's what this site is about. Now, would I do that? Let's just say there was a 'safe place' that I knew to run to if needed and leave it at that. However, I'm not about to tell someone here to break the law.

Since this thread does not have a legal question, you need to close it asap!

Look again, and you'll see that those threads are OLD and have not been added to for a long time because they had run their course.
O, I did. However, it is ironic that you feel like you have the authority to run in here and tell someone to "close this asap" when you are guilty of the same transgression (old or not)....

This OP at least asked why people are rude in a polite way. You proved him correct by saying what you did...
I saw nothing in his question that bashed any member.

Something about a Pot and a Kettle.....

I'm terribly sorry, l was just curious. Since I am new to this, how do I go about closing it?

You have to be signed on , and click edit , go advanced , thread management , close this thread after reply , or . You can even delete the entire thread if you chose to .:D . Maybe the administrator will come along and do it now since there's a dog fight .

I have to admit I have been rude to a few people here. I see your point OP and think maybe if one person starts being polite maybe others will follow.

Oh and I don't think there is any reason for any senior member around here to treat others like they don't know what they are talking about and put them down. That is rude! I've seen it one to many times myself since I joined this site.

Here is what I'm thinking, if more people join this site and not let the senior members who are rude run them off maybe this site can change, I'd love that!

Anyhow, you are 100% correct and no matter what anyone explanations are for getting rude there is none acceptable.

Unless, of course, the newbie is spouting incorrect advice or info. Then the "others" really do NOT "know what they are talking about." I'm not going to pussyfoot around that particular brand of stupidity, and neither are many other members, senior or not.

Yeah, well hang around, you start getting testy around post #800 or so;) :D

And by the way, what is the difference with senior members being rude or anybody else? Rarely is anyone rude without some sort of provocation, except maybe. . . hmmm . . I wonder where he is right now??:p

I'll admit, I am very rude sometimes, but it is usually to other Senior Members! Does that count double??
