We have a neighbor who likes to intimidate, threaten (verbally) & in general try to take advantage of us & another neighbor whenever he sees a chance. The other neighbor suggests we put up signs such as "F*** Off", "Seek help for mental illness", "Eat Sh*t & Die", etc. He says nothing could be done about them because of freedom of speech, and the fact that no specific name would be mentioned on the signs. I don't know if he's right. Could we get in trouble for such signs? We live in Missouri. Thank you!

My response:

You would be within your rights under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. However, there would always be some local yokel, or dumb cop, who doesn't understand that concept and get really upset, or try to arrest you.

Besides, you're going to bring down the values of all the other trailers in the swamp.

Find out from a local attorney what the conditions must include in order to obtain a Restraining Order against the neighbor and, if you meet those conditions, file for one.

Remember, as abhorant as your neighbor's mouth might be, he too has the right of Freedom of Speech.
