What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana

I received a Rule to show cause for Child support from my ex-fiance regarding my 4 month old daughter. I have no problem paying Child support but she is asking for sole custody. I want joint custody and visitation. At this point she won't let me see her or give me information about her. I cannot afford to pay the $3000.00 required by the lawyer I consulted in the 6 weeks before the date to go to court. So I need to know what I need to file in order to ask for joint custody and visitation.

I don't know if it matters but up until October 10th they lived with me. When we split up she left to go live with her dad who lives 4 hours away. She has already let her spend the night with my family.

Thanks

well, here's the problem. the child support and child custody are two different things. mom filed for child support alone.

you need to file to establish paternity/custody/visitation. tomorrow. today. soon.

rule to show cause next step

ok I should have been more specific. I apologize. The whole title of the rule is

Petition to establish paternity, rule for custody and other ancillary matters. In it she ask for child support to be established, to claim her every year and to be awarded sole custody. So do I have to file some sort of reply asking for visitation and to claim her every other year and for joint custody. I am on the birth certificate already. Is there a time period that I have to file or do I just need to show up to court and tell the judge what I want?

You need to respond to her petition, asking for what you want.
