We filed bankruptcy in May of 99 and it was discharged in Sept. of 99 We contacted a mortgage broker that deals with people in our situation. We filled out all of the paperwork that we were asked to fill out and were pre approved. Now that the house is just about ready to move into we are being told there is a problem with the discharge date. I don't understand why this is a problem now and was not 6 months ago when we started this whole process. I don't see how they didn't see the dates, they sent us a copy of our credit report and asked us to explain what was there. We were told all we needed was a 5% downpayment and that we have. Is there anything we can do to get around this problem or are we stuck? What are our rights as the consumer in a case like this?

Did the broker give you a loan comittment from the direct lender? If not, then you had no loan approval.
