What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY
Is it possible that a teacher or teachers who were threatened by a student through text messages and emails can know that they were named in these threatening messages? The student stated that he was going to shank _______teachers. The emails were given to the principal of our building and the middle school student was arrested for these threats. However, it took a full day for the principal to even tell the faculty that a threat existed and then went on to state that because of confidentiality he could not tell anyone who was specifically threatened. Is this a true statement from the principal? The student was suspended for 5 days from school and will also have a superintendents hearing at some point. The thing is several teahers do not feel safe and want to know if they have any protections under the law especially since they don't know if they were one of the threatened teachers. Any insite or information would be helpful so that we could possilby address this further. Thanks.
