I am 30, mother of 3. I have been in a controlling marriage for 10 years affecting my health, and I had finally decided that I had enough. I let my husband know that I would be leaving him when the kids got out of school - I thought that was the best thing to do for their sake.
I am a homemaker, but also do the accounting for his 3 companies, and pay all of our bills.
Last week, I found out that he had closed all the bank accounts and moved them to the bank where his friend is the president. I thought he couldn't do that without my knowledge on joint accounts. I still haven't filed for divorce, but I am starting to think that I will have to just to protect myself, as I no longer have any access to funding - not to buy our groveries, or to pay a lawyer.

I am also listed on the articles of incorporation for his companies - is there something he might be up to to change that? What can I do to protect my interests? Do I need to gather documentation now?

You made a BIG mistake.. it is like the police calling a criminal and telling him they will be round in 30 minutes to arrest him. You should have gathered evidence, seen an attorney and then filed for legal seperation. Now you are going to have a hard time tracking all this.

Go see an attorney today before you lose everything. He is not going to stop here and will probably do worse in the future.
