What is the name of your state? Florida

I just received reimbursement for the purchase of prescription medicine and it appears the insurance company has deducted the cost of the sales tax. Can they do that? I don't see anything written about this in my plan certificate? Is this common?

The Pharmacy is a retailer and must charge the state sales tax. Your insurance company will reimburse the cost of the medication only.

Stay tuned, though....there are several knowledgeable insurance people who may have other answers.

Is it actually sales tax or did you order the medicines online and it's a shipping charge? Insurance will not pay for shipping. Where did you get the medication from? In Flordia prescriptions are exempt from sales tax.

My residence is Florida but I work overseas. My group health insurance specifically covers only persons working overseas. I bought the medicine in Europe and paid cash. It is definitely the sales tax. No bank fees or shipping charges. This has never happened to me before with this provider or any previous ones. Is it common that insurance companies don't pay the sales tax???
