What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri
I filed a claim for hail damage. A roofing company salesman evaluated my damage and I described what I wanted completed. Roof, ridge vent, new facia, new gutters. I was told that we could complete the work by omitting the replacement of a slightly damaged window to cover the cost of the facia and gutters not honored by insurance.
Now the crew shows up. A subcontractor, a siding company at that, and they proceed to tear off my shingles with a rain storm coming the next morning. A large worker broke thru the sheathing at which time they said it needed new sheathing. They laminated it with new sheathing and with my help, we felted and shingled the roof temporarily to beat the storm. I was on my own roof until 11 pm to do so. I was again assured by the salesman that my out of pocket would be zero.
Insurance would not cover sheathing because it was not damaged by the hail. These yahoo's would work an hour, then sit under my shade tree for two. Not my concern I thought.
well...apparently they submitted a huge invoice to the owner of the roofing company who now shows me a small sentence that I initialed stating I would pay
$60 per sheet for the $11 osb sheathing that I HELPED pull up onto the roof and install of my own house!
So he wants $3000 for that, plus, the facia and gutters the salesman told me would be a wash from the window? Nope. He wants an additional $1400 from me for that. Ready for the kicker? It took these idiots FIVE MONTHS to finish what is in every other place in America takes two to four days tops! Hell...I did the job myself when I bought the house 15 yrs. ago in three days!
What do I do with that?

I'm not really sure what you're asking...

If you're asking if you should pay the bill, well, that's up to you. If you don't pay it, expect that you will be sued. If you do pay it, then you have the option of suing to have a portion returned, but why would a portion be returned? You admit they did the work (even though you helped to "beat" a rain storm.)

What, exactly, are you asking?
