Hi, im producing an album independently and some of the hip hop beats are made from samples taken off a nord lead synthesizer.

many of the tracks sound "mainstream" with the same similar lead sound that is used in many of Lil' John's beats that are circulating the radio and itunes. I have been under the assumption that artists such as himself and timbaland get these royalty free sound effects the same way my producers are.

am I in violation of copyright laws because my beat samples/sound effects are the same as theirs (nord 3 synth lead)?

thanks for any help

No all those samples are cleared and included with the price of the Nord Box, that's provided you mean the actual samples like a hit from a Steely Dan song.

If you are talking about sounding like lil john in the way Guerilla Black sounds like Notorious B.I.G. you have even less to worry about. other then being called a biter, but you know how haters be. Dang I've slipped back into my g-thang I was a recording engineer right up until ADATS became obsolete then I decided not to upgrade to hard disk recording which I find annoying. I've got this big TAC scorpion console and the ability to mix on the fly. Dragging a picture of a fader with a mouse just ain't gonna cut it.

What I don't miss is having to carry a baretta tomcat in my jeans pocket. (the loudest weapon I've ever fired) You have to avoid gang related rappers they are bad news.
