I am a tennet with a family of 5. With neigbors that are a family of 3. The septic tank has backed up into toilets, which has caused them to overflow several times in the past 3 weeks. The landlord has been notified. His first responce was that he could not afford to pump the septic tank and that he would just pump it into the back yard with his homemade pump. The neighbors and I were unhappy and informed him of the health issues and regulations. This upset him and he went ahead and had a professional come and take care of the situation. The next night, we received letters from the landlord of a $50 increase of the rent, affective March 1. After being pumped the septic tank has refilled 6 more times. He now has been pumping it into the back yard and will not have it done professionally. Obviously something is wrong with the plumbing(possibly a leak or pipe issue) and he refuses to have it fixed. Until then we never know that the tank is full, until our bathroom floors are flooded. It has gotten so bad, that the cap has been removed and the tank has overflooded into the drive way, including feces ( solids ) and toilet tissue. This is a health hazard to all of us tenants. I have 3 children that can no longer play outside, also due to the smell. Also included, our animals.
