I had a friend of a friend tell me he was going to set up a business meeting with an investment group on behalf of my company, he asked me to give him a good faith amount so that he was assured the company would be around when this meeting took place, with the understanding that he would return the money to me when the meeting took place. Not only didnt he set up a meeting, he only returned 1/4 of the money and says he won't return the rest. He has sent me an hourly bill for his time including his lawyers fee, when I never even hired him on an hourly basis. I would love to take him to small claims court. Do I have a case. I have documented emails and letters and witnesses to his outrages and lies. He owes me 1500.00

Without actually seeing the evidence to support your claim, it is not possible for anyone here to advise whether you have a case or not.

However, based solely on your post, it does sound as you might have a cause of action sufficient enough to pursue filing a complaint with your local small claims court.

Take an objective look at your evidence and see if you believe you have enough to convince a court of your claim. If so, go for it.
