What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alaska

Hello, my question to you is as follows, after a brief explenation. I take care of my elderly mother here in Alaska. I have been doing so for over 5 years now. With very little, to no relief of my "duties", I have become seriously depressed, withdrawn and nervous in public. Well all my emotions, and physical wellness are going down the tubes, due to the high stress, and high levels of depression. March 1 of 2011 I was able to get away, but didn't want to go far because of my mothers health, I worry even when I'm not there. So I found a motel *inexpensive, as I'm on ssdi and cannot afford a more comfortable place. And the location is relatively close to home.* When I get inside this place, the first thing I notice is that it's much nicer on the outside than the inside. I didn't mind, as I was there to be alone, and get some peace, quiet, relaxation. After going through atleast 7 to 10 rooms, I find one suitable enough. I take the other room keys back to the office and continue on about my business. Which wasn't much. I went to the corner store and buy soft drinks and some snacks, as I paid for a whole week. Upon returning to the motel/hotel I head upstairs to find my room. As I have stated before I went to many rooms to find this room. I went upstairs and took a wrong turn, when I did this I ended up going the opposite end of the floor. I passed by one room, where there were several teenage kids inside and two standing in the doorway. I nodded to one of the young men standing in the doorway, thinking great, noisey neighbors. I kept walking only to find that I had gone the wrong way. I turned around and headed back in the right direction. One of the young men had been watching me and when I came up to that room again the kid asked me "what the F are you doing up here?" I kept walking and said "looking for my room, just nevermind me." He then shouted to the rest of the kids in the room, "did you just hear what that M.F'er just said to me?" Then I heard as i made it to my door "i'm gonna kick your f'n as*" I shut the door and locked it immediately. The kid outside hit the door and said "your gonna have to come out of there sometime, and more expletives" I sat on the bed putting my head in my hands, thinking "this can't be happening" Well, the young man was right, I'd have to come out of there sometime. I grabbed my things, which were few, and ran down the stairs straight to the office. I heard them hollaring "there he goes" "get the M.F'er" It only took a second to get to the front window. I told the clerk to call the state troopers. NOW!! In seconds the teen was behind me yelling at me "what'd you say to me?" "I'm gonna kick your as*" I turned to face him and he was holding a steele pipe and slapping it in his hands. I told him he'd better make it good, or I would take it from him and use it on him. He came at me shoving me backward into the window, now we're chest to chest, him trying to shove me harder. I used both palms of my hands and shoved him just to get him out of my personal space. He lifted the pipe to swing when the clerk, called him by name and told him NO don't do it!! At that point I started feeling a bit faint, scared, angry all at once. I thought I was gonna collapse. The clerk told me to come into the office and have a seat. The clerk told the kid that he'd better leave cause the troopers were on thier way. Next thing I remember is telling the clerk she should start what ever it takes to return my money. She apologized emphatically, aske me if I was sure I wanted to leave, that she could give me a first floor room away from them. I was at the very least dumbfounded by her suggestion. I told her no thanks. The troopers arrive and question me, wanting to know why I was there in the first place, and what I did to initiate this. Now I'm pissed. The trooper was just doing his job, but I felt disrespected and curious as to why i was being asked this. He asked me, when he was through with his line of questioning what "I" wanted to see happen. I told him arrest him, thats what. He was charged with 3rd degree assult. I have had two telephonic court hearings both being continued. It's still not finished. Here is my question: Q: Can I sue him, or his parents, since he's a minor, for punitive damages? I'm scared to death to go to town, as the kid is already out on his parent's name. What can I do if anything?

Because you have not mentioned any medical injuries and the front desk clerk returned your money, you've been financially made whole.

Not legal advice, but the pressure of taking care of your mother seems to be getting to you. You checked out 7-10 rooms before finding one you liked????

I would suggest that you take shorter, more frequent breaks. Rather than waiting until you're at the breaking point and then taking a whole week off, take a day or two off a little more frequently.
