What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? texas

My son made a VERY inappropriate video on his phone and then placed the video on YouTube. It was a video accusing another student of being "gay" My son was suspended for 2 1/2 days of school and 20 days of alternative school. My question: The father of the boy in the video wants to go before the town's school board and have my son taken out of athletics for a year. Does the school board have this authority? Wouldn't this be a case of "micro management?"

The school board is the ultimate authority within a school district. Yes, they have the authority.

Perhaps your son could smooth things over with Dad by giving a sincere apology to the young man he maligned.

But yes, the school board absolutely can take that action.

And I wouldn't be shocked if your son is hit with a suit for libel.

BTW... why the quotes around gay? I'm just curious.
