I have been dating a girl in our university for a couple of months. We'er both graduate students.
Recently we had an arguement again, and she decided to end the relationship. As routine, i tried to explain what she misunderstood about me. It was really all about trivia stuffs. But this time she seemed to be very firm on her decision. So after i called and emailed her a couple of times(3 phone calls and 2 emails) and she didn't anwser or reply, she reported me to the school's student office, accusing me of harrassment.
I was shocked when i was called by the school. Now they want me to sign an agreement to cease any form of contact with her, including facial expressions that might be interpreted as attempting a conversation. On the other hand, interestingly, they let the girl sign the same agreement. Obviously they realized there was no fault on either part on this matter.
I agreed to sign it under the condition that i get to have a short conversation with her before i sign it. My only intention is to try to eliminate any hard feelings between us since otherwise this would end too hostile. But the school rejected my request, saying she already told them she didnt want to see me at all, and further threatened that they might give me a sanction if i refused to sign the agreement.
Do they have the right to force me sign that agreement regardless of my request? I think it is true that it was her who brought this up to the school and refused to have a conversation with me since she is so mad at me. But does that mean they have legitimate reasons to interfere? Breaking up is fine with me, but do i have to sign such an absurd agreement for the sake of another party?
Thank you.
