Can I receive a loan/financial aid from a school if I am not currently enrolled in classes because of a mistake on the school's part?
I will have to give a little background in order for this question to be fully understood. I started online classes for this certain university after their financial aid department called and told me that I had been awarded the aid. Approximately three weeks into the session, the school contacted me and told me that my financial aid did not go through. I asked them why didn't they contact me earlier. They replied by saying that I was not contacted earlier because my advisor was in the hospital which leads me to believe that the school does not have a backup plan. Instead of dropping the courses and possibly hurting my grade point average, the the school and I decided that I would finish the session while we get the matter cleared. There school policy is that a student is to drop a course one day after the session starts to not be penalized. It was clear to me that my grade point average would have been harmed. I have sent all document that the school has requested. I also dropped my classes for the next session after this because I did not have the money to pay for the classes; hence, that is why I filed for the school aid. After I had dropped the classes for the next session, the school did not take the classes off my home page until about a week and a half later. This led to the professors in my next session classes reporting me for not participating in class. This has been exhausting to me because I have been trying to settle this matter since July of this year which is extremely difficult because the school will barely return my phone calls.
Is there any organization or lawyer that I can report this negligence to that will investigate this matter thoroughly?
