My son's school took him out of school and took him to the dentist where they did work on his teeth with out my promision. I was not imformed. He also had a cut in his mouth and if I would have known I would have told them no. I had to take him to the ER after because he was ill. What can I do now? I don't feel save to send him back to this school but it is the only one he can go to..
Please help if there is any legal thing I can do ... My son got treated and I feel betrade by the school.

We have been completely left out in the rain by our school. The ball has been dropped at so many levels it is unbelievable. Try getting something done through the Regions and Districts. What a joke.... They have all kinds of rules, regulations, policies, codes and laws with no one to enforce them. I can not imagine what all the employees do at these service offices. And I have posted many messages regarding our situation and no wants to touch it. We never get a reply, just yet another push in another direction. Something smells....
Good luck to you...

My response:

Before we can try to assist you, we need a couple of answers:

1. What is your State?

2. Was there an emergency that required a school official to take your child to a dentist, or,

3. Was it "Let's take the Kids to the Dentist" Day and have oral surgery performed?

In other words, what was their reason for taking your child to the dentist.

We live in Idaho. It was a program with the heath district to get the teeth of second graders sealed. No emergency.

My response:

Well, now it's been two or more weeks since your initial posting. What has happened in the interim? Have you notified or done anything to anyone since your intital post?

Did you ever inquire of the school whether or not notes were sent home with the children? Was written and signed permission supposed to have occurred? Was there a "beginning of the school year" memo sent home with the kids informing that such dental visit would occur?

Please be as specific as you can.

I have not done anything about this. I live in a very small town and I'm afraid of this towns reaction. I don't know if I should go after the school or the principal. I never signed anything with the date or time on it. The principal told me that they forgot to inform the parents. I did sign a paper in Jan. That said I wanted it done. But the school did not do it until May. And at that time I had forgotten all about it. Two days before the dentist trip my son got a rip in his gums and I had made a dentist appoin. for him for that next week. After my son came home from school that day he was sick with fever and dizzy. Later that night I took him to the ER. There they said to take him to a dentist to see what the rip was. That next week we went to his appoin. And that dentist told me that he was fine but he got it ripped worse by the other dentist. My son still has that rip. Now I am afraid to take my son back to school. This school it in the wrong for doing this to my family. Should I find an attorney or should I drop it??
