I recently hacked the school website using SQL-Injection. We didn't break anything but i made a very childish joke: I placed the word 'cancer(a serious curse-word in my language - dutch)' on it.

School then went to the police and now I'm thinking about turning myself in. What do you thing i will receive as punishment for this crime if i cooperate fluently. Also, do you believe i will be kicked from school, or will a police punishment be enough in their eyes?

Please remember i am under-age and thus other rules might apply to me(?).
Thanks in advance,
DBrucie

Who is "we"?

If contacted by the police do not answer any questions. Only say you wish to speak to your parents and an attorney. The police cannot make you answer questions.

Explanation.

It was me and one friend, he's already been contacted by authorities, they told him they found another IP in switzerland (the place my vpn is hosted) so its only a matter of time.

Because of this i wanted to step to them and confess everything and just cooperate, ive already told my parents.

Did this occur in the United States? If so, in what state did this occur?

If this occurred in The Netherlands, or some other nation, then we may be of little help here as this is a site for US law.

Well it did occur in the netherlands, but im pretty sure our legal systems aren't that different.
Im just curious (or nervous as to what i should expect, that might be it) to find out whats going to happen.

Seeing as how you have no clue of knowing whether or not i told the truth about me living in the Netherlands, lets say i lied.

I actually live in Wichita Falls, Texas. My father is stationed at Shephard Airforce Base for three years.

Now then, what is would be my legal position now.

Since here there could be a mish-mosh of local, state and federal laws, and state laws vary to some degree, it would be hard to translate what might happen here to what might happen in The Netherlands.

Here, you could realistically expect to be charged by the state for hacking a computer system and maybe even modifying a government database, etc. The feds could also weigh in and charge you under federal laws as you likely used a telecommunications system (phone or cable lines) to penetrate the computer system.

In the US you could face years in prison.

Your next step should be to consult an attorney ASAP.

Since your story has changed three times as to where you live, we can't know what to believe from you.

Good luck. And consult an attorney ... no matter what country or state you might live in.

I actually do live in the netherlands, i was just wondering what would happen if i was in the US.

Isn't charging me for hacking a 'government database' when it was just a local public school somewhat exaggerated? I realize this won't been seen as a "he was just make a bit of trouble" case, but this seems a bit drastic..

That is totally irrelevant, you're NOT in this country. We can't make any guesses or assumptions about what happens in other countries. That is not what this website is for. Go away and consult an attorney in YOUR country.

And that's where you would be mistaken. The laws in the US are not always the same even within the US. They are certainly different in a number of respects to that of Canada, which shares a 3500 or so mile border with the US. But you think they're going to be the same in the Netherlands?

Sorry, kid. Not happening.
