I'm from Troy, Michigan and I'm 18 an attend my local high school.
I had my iPod Photo (estimated value around 375 with case) stolen in my gym locker.
Although I know it's partially my fault for bringing it into the locker room and it is "implied" that things of great value shouldn't be brought in, some students had stolen the combination booklets from the gym teachers' offices.
All the administrators knew this and the gym teachers even knew this but the students were never warned and the gym locker doors which should always be locked continue to be left wide open and more and more thefts occur.
My gym teacher (a female teacher) agrees with me and SHE is the one who makes sure that they are locked before we start class. I do more of the male gym teachers' jobs than they do.
Does this fall under, negligence or some other category?
I would let this go if the teachers did their job and/or the students were warned that the theft of the combination books occured. However, I can't live with the fact that this isn't all my fault. In fact, it's very minimal. After all lockers are for the safekeeping of your belongings.
That iPod was bought with my first two paychecks and in my financial situation, it's impossible to afford another one, especially since i have to pay for my tuition next year. It'd be great if someone had a solution.
thanks.
