I live in Oklahoma and i rent a house in front of a large open field.
I have lived here for six months and i suddenly have a problem with scorpians coming into my home. I have found three of them in the last two weeks.
I contacted the landlord to fumigate my home but they said that since I have lived here for more than 2 weeks that it is my responsiblity to pay for the exterminator.
I have two very small children and one on the way and I know that this can be fatal to them. Is it legally my responsibility to do this or is it theres. I could understand if it was cockroaches that I would have to pay for it, but not scorpians. What am I supposed to do?????????/

Contact the county Board of Health about this problem. There may be a health ordinance in your town requiring the landlord to take care of this. There is also the possibility that these scorpions have made your home "uninhabitable" in which case in many places, you can get the repairs done yourself and reduce your rent by that amount. An attorney could advise you. Or check to see if there is a tenant/landlord association in your community. They could give you some guidance.
