The scubadiving regulator manufacturers almost always will NOT sell the breathing regulator parts and overhaul kits to a layperson. They claim that they will only sell to authorized dealers. Is there a law that would require them to service the purchaser of their equipment?

There is no regulatory restriction on the sale of these parts, to the best of my knowledge. It seems that they are imposing their own artbitary judgement on me!

And who do you think will get sued if rebuild fails and the diver drowns. Yep, the company that sold the parts and kit. There is no law that says any company has to sell to everyone. Any company or retailer can sell to who they want and they are free to place restrictions on those sales. The seller is doing nothing illegal, they are just protecting themselves. That is something the law says they can do. And thanks for supplying your email address. These forums are some of the most popular for email farming, expect the spam to fill your inbox soon.

Thanks

Thanks for the cheerly reception Racer. I did not ask you for a why not- I asked for a why. If you can not lend a hand, then please make for the next exit.

I would think that if a manufacture produces and sells a good on the public market, then there would be an obligation to warranty and support this product. You may disagree, but I did not ask for your opinon or your lame scenario.

People die from allergic reactions to the laundry detergent in their underwear. The makers of Tide know this, but continue to sell detergent. Where is the nexus?

This is my junk email address that I use to screen out people like _ _ _.

Who conducted the rebuild? Who died from the result? Who is at fault?

Nope. But there is a law that would make any idiot who tries to overhaul their own regulator....it's called the law of thinning the herd.
