Hello Everybody, I have a question but I only want people who know what they are talking about. I applied for a job with a government agency. I had to apply for an iterim secret clearance but i got denied. It was because I had got fired from 2 jobs.(I was honest about this on the sf86) one job I got fired for was about 8 years ago, i was late too many times, and the other was about 1 year ago, I missed 1 day. Now I have a secret security clearance in the Air Force.(yes it is active) I have been in the Air Force for 4 years.(Always on time and never missed a day) I have never been on drugs, never been locked up, I have no debt.
I understand that the interim does not mean that I will not get the job, But OPM has the final decision. My question is do you think that OPM will grant me the clearance? and do you think that it will take 1 year to make a decision even though i already have a clearance in in the Air Force?

Being fired once might be understandable, but being fired twice is enough of a red flag to nix your interim clearance. It could indicate a degree of irresponsibility that is inconsistent with being able to keep government secrets.

So if your work record with those two employers confirms such irresponsibility, you won't get your clearance. Otherwise, it won't be a problem.

yes, but by being in the Air force for 4 years and having the same secret clearence? C,MON, wont they look at that?

My only experience is with civilian clearances. I don't know anything about military clearances directly. I've heard third- or fourth-hand that military clearances are much easier to obtain than civilian clearances, and so they don't automatically translate into the corresponding civilian clearance.
