I rent an apartment in the state of Maryland, recently I found out half of the apartment complex is reserved for section 8 housing. Is that something that I should of been told before I signed my lease by the rental office??

No...certain sections/states have source of income as a protected class. Section8 tenants have right to privacy. Disclosing this would violate their right to privacy. Even if you had asked, manager should/could not have told you.
