What is the name of your state? DC

I have been offered position which requires security clearance for non-sensitive position. I am not worried about any investigation except work exp. my work exp listed on resume isn't exactly accurate. i am wondering how do they conduct investigation on work exp?
is there actually federal database that keeps record of your work exp? or do they contact employers and obtain info. are they strict about dates listed for this work exp?

form that is req to fill out is form SF85.

Thanks,

Anything that is not accurate on the Standard Form 85 is reason enough to deny the applicant security clearance. In lieu of polygraphs, many agencies will require personnel seeking initial access to Special Access Programs to submit this form. This is a questionnaire for National Security Positions, and accuracy and honesty are vital.

If you know there are errors on the form, they should be corrected BY YOU before any investigation reveals the errors. The investigations conducted are pretty thorough.
