What is the name of your state? Virginia
My 37 y.o. husband entered the military in 1990. At that time he obtained a top secret clearance. He stayed in for 4 years and his history was perfect. He was the perfect soldier and perfect person as far as his clearance was concerned. He got out of the military and went to school to get his law degree. In 1999 his first wife took his newborn and left. He was very upset by this and got a DUI. He also had some other minor traffic charges. He hasn't had anything happen since 2003. He also had credit problems. We are working to clear up the credit issues and thought we had everything clear. However, when the investigator interviewed my husband regarding the financial issues there were a couple (<$100 each) of issues that we didn't even know about. He was grilled! We submitted a letter along with the SF86 explaining that these incidents were isolated and he is back on the straight and narrow. We honestly thought that we reported EVERYTHING on the SF86. He volunteered to get mobilized in 2005 and went to Afghanistan for 8 months. During that time his clearance investigation was on hold. Now they are working on it and I am afraid it will get turned down and we won't have a job. We have applied to get back on active duty. My questions are these: 1. Does everyone get "grilled" during the interview? 2. What are his chances of obtaining a clearance? Thank you so much! I just found out I am pregnant and I need to know if we need to look for another job!
