Hi, I am from Buffalo, Ny where I bought a duplex almost 2 years ago. Upon buying the house, I was told there was no security deposit to be transfered over from the original landlord. the tenants were here 6 yrs. before I purchased. I never charged them a security and kept them on a month to month basis. They have recently bought there own house, and have told me that they will not pay last months rent in place of the $600 security they paid 8 yrs. ago. I do not have this. I have contacted the original owner to find out that he and the tenant agreed that no security deposit would be paid due to damages and late charges on rent. Am I responsible for this, or do I deserve the last months rent? Should I further this, or is it between the original owner and the tenants? I beleive that they should go after him, and that I should recieve my last months rent. Please help, I've got a real mess here!
