What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Montana

So I now live in Montana and I rented a apartment in Dayton, Washington. I am 2 states apart and now that it has been 30 days my security deposit has not been returned to me. Can a Realtor try to screw me over by saying that he sent the deposit on Monday and its no longer his problem?

Yes, that is a possibility.

I was finally able to get my full security deposit back from my Landlord the only thing that I am still owed is a verbal contract made between myself my roommate and the landlord stating that the roommate would pay me at least half the rent for staying there the month that I had paid for. As far as I know the man is a very severe alcoholic and he keeps putting off the payment with the excuse that all his "other" bills come first.

If you had a written lease, the verbal agreement matters not. Parol evidence law. So don't count on getting that money.
