my boyfriend and i lived in a duplex for two years in smyrna, georgia at which time our landlord sold it. we decided to live there month to month because we were told the new landlord may be wanting to move in in the next six months. the new landlord kept our former landlord on as a pseudo-manager. we sent our rent to him for a month and then at the request of our new manager started giving it to him instead. we were given six weeks verbal notice that our new landlord wanted to move in. we moved with no problem and did a walk thru with our new landlord. he found the place to be in excellent condition. however, we are unable to get our deposit back because our former landlord says he did not get to inspect the property. do we have any recourse?

who do we get the deposit from? for some reason the deposit was not transfered to our new landlord. both landlords admit to this. our former landlord had us fill out a sheet requesting our deposit but tomorrow will be 30 days since he received it.
