What is the name of your state? MI

Hi, I am a student and seeking information on investors for a proposed business. I am looking for a financiers, possibly Japanese investments (seem to be interested in field). This isn't MY business, but I do have a level of interest in it and great potential for me if I can help get things rolling. However, I am a novice in this area, any advice on where to start including websites, forums, etc.? Thank you in advance for any assistance you may offer!

There is way too much to tackle here, but in a nutshell:

1. Get the business "started". Get intellectual property rights (patents/trademarks) secured. Get web sites up, prototypes made, potential suppliers lined up, whatever you are going to need. You or your friends will need to make this intial investment. You can do it on a very small scale. But you need to secure your rights and assess viability.

If you say that you have no money to do any of #1 and you need "investors" from Day One, prepared to not be taken seriously, and possibly even have your idea snatched from you, assuming it is any good.

2. Then write a business plan. Google "Writing a Business Plan". You will need to do forecasting, competitive research, all that stuff.

3. Then approach investors, knowing what you now know and looking like you know what you are doing. Google "Venture Capital"
