My wife and I were joined by a friend and his wife in CA for my birthday. We shared expenses and split a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo. The condo required payment in advance and I had my travel agent call before booking the reservation to insure that there were separate bathrooms and that each of the 2 bedrooms had at least a queen size bed. The agent confirmed that one room had a king bed and one room a queen bed. I paid with a
debit card 3 weeks before the stay.

We checked in and discovered that the accommodations included one king bedroom with two twin beds in 2nd bedroom. I called the front desk and asked for a manager. The night clerk called the night manager and offered to bind the twin beds together. We refused; an argument ensued; the night manager arrived on site 3 hours later and refused to change the room. My request for a refund was rebuffed as the property claimed a
booking agent was holding the money. I called the travel agent, booking agent and corporate office of the property the next morning, without resolution.

When we returned to the room that evening the property had my friend arrested for kidnapping with violence as a result of the argument with the night clerk and we (myself, my wife and my friends wife) were evicted from the property.

I have since placed several calls to have a refund for at least one night given we were evicted. I have been bounced between the booking agent and the property. The booking agent claims they forwarded funds to the property and the property refers me to the booking agent.

What recourse do I have?

contact your bank, there is a way to chargeback debit transactions but they will have all the details.
