Seller of house backs out on us....

We had already made a verbal agreement on buying a house (on Sat.) and gave a deposit and were going to sign everything today at the title co. The buyer called and said our deposit check is in the mail and she was going to sell the house to another. She knew we were pre-approved too.
Is this legal of her to do this????

Contracts for the sale of real estate must be in writing and signed to be enforceable. You're SOL, I'm afraid.
