Our landlord told us in May that she wanted to sell our house.(We needed to be out by the end of August) Shortly after we paid the rent in July we found a great place and moved in July 16. Can she refuse to pro-rate our rent?! Doesn't us being gone early help her out? We didn't want to move in the first place!!!
Since were paid through the end of July do we have to let her come and go as she pleases on the property. (No notice / No permission?
Also, we made improvements to the home "just to be good tennents" and not have to bother her with it.
We live in Washington state and would really apprieciate some advice!

DO you have a lease? If so When does it end?

that is always the first two questions.....

because the answer depends on it.

YES you had to move........with a month to maonth all she has to give you is a 30 day notice to move.

With a lease the landlord cannot force you to move until the lease ends......PERIOD!

With a lease if the landlord wanted to break it they would have to pay YOU to move!

And of course by being good tenants...UMMM GOOD SUCKERS....you spent your money on the landlords property and you are complaining about pro rating the rent?

Just make sure you took pictures to sue the landlord in small claims court when they wont give you back your deposit.
