My wife and I have separated and will be filing for divorce, we were trying to do it without lawyers but now she is demanding crazy things. She moved out about 2 weeks ago and has now spent $800 on makeup/hair care, a trip to the sex shop and paid an electric bill. She has moved in with her ex boyfriend and has posted all over facebook about how she is going to be moving with him to florida. She also changed her relationship status back to in a relationship with her ex.

My question is between now and when we are actually able to file, we just moved to a new county and have a 90 day waiting period before we can file, am i responsible for paying for stuff? I was considering removing my name from our joint account and opening a new account in my name then having my checks from work deposited there. Im just not sure if this is a good idea or not.

Also she wrecked her car and got a $300 speeding ticket in the last two weeks....so $500 deductible $300 ticket and $800 spent on random stuff.

I told her I would be willing to pay her car payment insurance and cell bills until the divorce was finished but I'm getting really irritated by her unneed spending of money.

She was fired from her job about 3 years ago and couldn't find a job so she decided she wanted to go back to school for cosmetology(She was already a registered medical assistant so the school was not necessary. She finished school 6 months ago and hasn't even started looking for a job. Her school cost about 19k...will I be responsible for this as well? We both live in texas and have lived here for our entire lives.

I will be contacting a lawyer but due to my schedule at work I will be unable to meet with one for another week and a half so I'm worried that she will spend/rack up more bills.

Thanks for the info.
