What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
My friend has been separated for over 2 years and has his wages garnished for child and spousal support. His wife was to pay the mortgage and other home expenses with this money as per the court. During these 2 + years my friend moved back into the house to care for his children while their mother was hospitalized and he opted to remain there to be with his kids all the while keeping his seperation status and support payments going. He soon found out that the mortgage was 3 mths behind and he took the last of his money to cover it for his kids sake. A few months ago he found out that she wasn't paying it again and blowing the money elsewhere and this time he had no way to bail them out. The mortgage is now in foreclosure and he has moved out on his own once again. His name is the only name on the house and everything will be lost and his credit is ruined. He wasn't aware until it was too late because she hides the mail and canceled the phone and doesn't allow him any computer access, (she's mentally Ill) I keep telling him to call a lawyer but he thinks since he lived in the home while she stopped payments the second time around that he's screwed. Does he have any legal ground to do anything to recoup his financial loss? How long does spousal support last in Pennsylvania? This was marital property bought during the course of the marriage and due to her getting over 2/3 of his pay every 2 weeks, he had no means of making up 6 house payments to save it. What can he do?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
