What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia
I was recently (2 October) separated from the navy due to parenthood. My discharge was honorable. Separation code is HDG and the reentry code is RE-3B.
I have two questions.
First from what I understand I am eligible for separation pay as I have been in longer than 6 years. Is this true?
Second how long does my separating command have to submit my paperwork to DFAS?
I called them last week and they told me that they are still waiting for my separating command to send them the paperwork.
Any advice on what I should do? I want to move back home but I do not have the money and I was not allowed job hunting or terminal leave to find a job or housing prior to separation. My savings is quickly running dry as on top of everything I am a single mom who does not get child support (dad is a deadbeat) and he is a cat. 3 EFM.
Now that I have given you all my sob story can you help me out?

Edit I am sorry The term I was looking for was readjustment pay not separation pay. Sorry!
