My new husband had a legal seperation from his wife. She died before their divorce was signed. In the seperation agreement, no mention was made of an insurance policy that she had, in which he was named beneficerary. Also, she had a state pension and death benefit. The pension is mentioned in the seperation agreement. My question is, is he entitled, under New York State law, to lay claim to any of her pension, death benefit, or life insurance?
