What is the name of your state? Texas... my grandmother recently died she has 6 birth children & 1 step son.... approx. 13 yrs ago when the father of the 1 son died while married to my grandmother left 1/2 of his assests to his son & 1/2 to my granmother, his son said he would sign over his 1/2 to my grandmother(his step-mom) to use as long as she lived.. this is the twist part, he lived out of state so my mother his youngest step-sister signed his name to the proper documents because her mother begged her to... the document was taken to the lawyer & the lawyer called my uncle he said that was fine it they notarized it @ the lawyers office...another twist.. my aunt was realeased out of rusk mental hospital in 1997 to the care of my grandmother so she is now living alone she's schizophrenic not doing well we can't sale the house or divide the estate up she won't let us get to any papers or possesions we are a very close nit christian family & don't want to hurt anyone but do want to help her, all except my step-uncle he's demanding his 1/2 orginally left by his father + 1/7 & a few small items....He knows we can't get my aunt into a mental hospital til she threatens harm on self or us but he still is demanding his or he'll file charges against my mother whom is a very scared fragile lady by nature noone knows about this except me (as of yesterday ) mother & my step-uncle what can they do to my mother for signing this even though he agreed to it when the lawyer called him he now says he will tell the courts he didn't agree & have my mother put in prison since the lawyer, the notary, & my grandmother are all deceased & can't speak on her behalf help us please she's about to have a mental breakdown ...What is the name of your state?

A local attorney can help you unravel this mess. Most of the documents you need are public record and you don't need documents that are in the possession of anyone else.

Of course fraud/forgery was committed and the attorney is going to have to review all documents to get them undone.
