What is the name of your state? CA

It saids that you can serve a 3 days notice by nailing and posting (attached notice to a conspicious place and mailing 1st class) if you attemped to service the notice in person.

But it does not say what you must do to attempted to service the notice in person.

If I go in the morning to the person's residence and no one is there and go in the afternoon and no one is there and then nailed and send the notice to him is that enough of an atemp to service the guy personally.

Has anyone know of a case where this was brought in question.
