hello: a friend of mine has been working for his small company for 30 yrs. & recently he found out that he has cancer of the lungs, he would like to know if he is able to file for unemployment disability................... thank u

Sorry to hear about your friend. I've never heard of "unemployment disability." UC benefits and disability benefits are two different things. I am aware that NY has a State-mandated disability benefit that employers must provide (and may supplement with an additional group disability plan if they wish to) so if that's what you're referring to, yes, your friend should apply right away if he is unable to work.
