i was living with a woman from late november 2000 to early march 2001, i then moved in with my new girlfriend march 14th, 2001. the woman i was living with is now saying that i owe her $695 for money she claims she put into my checking account (her name has never appeared on this account at all) doesnt she need written proof that she made deposits into my account? and whos to say that it wasnt my money anyway? help, also she bought me a pair of boots as a christmas gift do i have to pay those back?

Obviously, whether you reimburse her for any claims against you is your choice. However, I really think you are curious about the legal requirements that she might bring forth.

If correct, then we assume that she would have to sue you to try to get reimbursed. As the Plaintiff, the burden of proof would be on her to prove that moneys or property that she gave you was in fact a loan and that there was a specific agreement of repayment. Without that proof, your position of 'gifts' is pretty solid.

Bottom line... you are not 'required' to reimburse her for anything she gave you unless ordered by a court.
