Virginia- In August 09 I was involved in a shoplifting incident at Kohl's in which I was apprehended for taking two pieces of jewelry (long story). I was 17 at the time, and the security person did not involve the police and I completed the NASP YES program. The security person told me I would receive a letter from Kohl's to pay a fee for the items plus damages, but I never received one. My father told me that there is some sort of list shared by retailers of people apprehended for shoplifting so that they can not be hired at the retail stores who share the list. Would my name have been added to this even if I never received further notice from Kohl's and I finished the YES program with an 'A'? Also, I have heard that when you turn 18 your criminal record from before 18 is erased in Virginia- I was wondering if I did happen to be added to this list if I would now be removed because I am 18 following that rule (if it's true). I am currently trying to get a job at Best Buy and I do not want to lose the chance and any chance I may have in the future of working in some sort of retail for this stupid mistake, I am really an honest person and would never do such a thing again. Any advice would be great, thank you. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
