What is the name of your state? Indiana

Yesterday I was caught shoplifting from Wal-Mart. The item was a $4 lightbulb that I needed replaced in my car. I know it was stupid and I don't know why I did it. I have never shoplifted before. I haven't ever been in trouble with the law before either. I have to go to court and I want to know if there is anything that I can do to prepare for this and what kind of legal punishment I can expect. Thanks for the help.

Go to court.

Be early.

Don't smoke, eat, or chew gum.

Dress professionally.

Be exceptionally polite.

Ask the nice lady there (the clerk) who it is you talk to about diversion programs.

Maybe they will let you off without a record if you do all the right things.

There are a billion shoplifters on the forum and all of them have the same story. It's amazing!

Stupid!!!

That's how you feel right now don't you? Probably didn't sleep much either...
I won't give you the speech, I just hope your remorseful, and not cause you got caught but because you know what you did was wrong.I wouldn't worry too much about it, if this is your first time in trouble and express to the judge or hearing officer that what you did was wrong and you "genuinely" show your remorse then I doubt you will get anything more then a slap on the wrist and probation for a year. But don't take this break as a weakness of the system but a chance to prove that your not a low life thief. Apply yourself in school and excel, don't worry so much about your cars bling bling!!!How would you feel if tonight I break your cars window and steal your stereo? Don't do anything to others that you wouldn't want done to you.....

Get a hair cut and dress nicely, speak clear and loud.

Good luck " young man ", we all make mistakes, I just hope you'll learn from this one.

not anymore

Not much there anymore!
I was in a Walmart the other day... there was hardly anything on the shelves!!

All the customers in the parking lots had suspicious bulges on their persons.

Some security guards were chasing a few down looking for receipts. and a few were actually tackling and macing poor people who looked like they were having panic attacks.

I saw a scarf on the ground and was going to pick it up and turn it in to lost and found... but was afraid it was hot... and I didn't have a receipt...

So I just went over to BESTBUY... not a good idea.

Does anyone know a good lawyer? :p
